2) God Has Provided a Way to Restore our Relationship
On the last page, we looked at the first half of Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death;..."
And indeed ... this is true; but now let's look at the second half of Romans 6:23:
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
(Romans 6:23)
This is the "Good News" of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our sin separated us from God, and condemned us to death, but even when we had made ourselves God's enemies, God provided a way to restore our relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
(2 Corinthians 5:21)
The "Good News" is that Jesus died for our sins, becoming sin for us. He died, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day. Through faith in Christ, you can have God's gift of forgiveness of sin, and new life in Christ by placing your faith in His death as He bore your sins in your place; and on His resurrection, as He rose from the dead to bring you new life.
